WALKING

On our doorstep there are many interesting and scenic routes.

Traverse ancient tracks once used by oxen to service the mills their owners worked.

Walk along the banks of the river Mino discovering nature’s ever-changing mantle. In January and February the river banks are ablaze with mimosa and in spring and summer a carpet of wild flowers, herbs and bushes make these walks memorable.
Trek through forests of pine and eucalyptus, stopping on route to look at petroglyths, eventually emerging above the tree line to continue along trails with stunning views of the Atlantic.

There is a choice of more challenging walks in the Portuguese National Park where peaks reach as high as 2500 metres.

Hike through mountains still inhabited by wolves and observe a way of life long forgotten. Breathe in the fresh air and absorb the complete peacefulness of this magnificent area.

We also arrange walking holiday packages which include escorted walks, accommodation, breakfast and packed lunches.

One of the delights of this holiday is to sample the excellent Galician cuisine. At the end of a day’s walking we are happy to share our knowledge of the local restaurants specialising in freshly caught seafood, meats cooked to perfection, and a vast variety of tapas accompanied by the fresh crisp white wines of the area.
